Counting Down the Days

Just a week left now till Bama faces off with Texas for the national championship. Playing the Longhorns has not been kind to us in the past. They are one of the few teams we've played more than once that we've never beaten. The reports out of practice have been good. I can't wait!

Does the Man Listen to What He Is Saying?

Today the President took a moment off from his Hawaii vacation to discuss the failed airplane bombing on Christmas day. (Wags have labeled the terrorist the Undibomber which seems to fit.) He said this (according to the New York Times): "We will not rest until we find all who were involved..." And then the President returned to his vacation.

Does he even listen to what is coming out of his mouth? Or perhaps like O. J. he is looking for the real bombers out on the golf course.

Homeland Insecurity

The fecklessness of President Obama's appointment of the laughable Janet Napolitano as the Director of Homeland Security hasn't cost us a tragedy...yet. Her clueless pronouncement yesterday that the "system worked" in near-miss attempted bombing of a flight into Detroit on Christmas day has been too much even for Obama's cheerleaders in the media to swallow.

I had the misfortune of living under her misrule when she was governor of Arizona. The fact that such a textbook example of the Peter Principle could be elevated to such a critical position simply underlines the lack of seriousness with which President Obama approaches the threats we face in the world. They still don't get it--there are people out there who want to kill us, and they aren't going to stop just because we're nicer to them.

And it's worth mentioning again that for all of his failings, President Bush took the job of protecting America seriously. He may have put an idiot in charge of FEMA, but not DHS. I think we're going to miss him a lot more before the current four year Presidential term is over.
