I Don't Like Mike

The University of Alabama, the players, and our fans deserve better than we're getting from Mike Shula. There is no excuse for losing at home to a 2 and 7 team. There is no excuse for losing to a team that has lost 23 straight conference road games. There is no excuse for failing to score an offensive touchdown. There is no excuse for poor clock and timeout management. There is no excuse for not having your team ready to play. There is no excuse for NEVER--not once in four years--having come from behind in the fourth quarter to win a football game.

Once again, Mike Shula has demonstrated that he does not know how to be a top-flight football coach. It's (past) time for him to go. Mal Moore should fire Mike Shula now--I don't mean at the end of the season. I don't mean at the end of the week. I mean fire him today.

This team should not be 6 and 4. The only reason we are is because of failures of the coaching staff. The talent is there to win...we just need the leadership to get the job done.

I used to see eye to eye with the true fans and alumni who wanted to keep this man. It seems that all of the "big wigs" at the U of A want a mediocre football team. As long as Shula leads the charge, that is all they will ever be.As an optimist, this will open Mal Moore's eyes. As a pessimist, they will just give Mike a hug and a pat on the back, and tell him everything's going to be okay.

No Alabama fan is more dedicated to the traditions of the Tide than myself. I think everyone in the country respects what The Bear did to this day, but the man has been dead for nearly 25 years. If the Alabama nation wants to preach tradition, then Mal Moore needs to give us the tools to reflect tradition. I'm glad that we have 12 national championships to gloat about, but that doesn't ease the fact that we lost to one of the worst teams in the country today.

Bottom line - YOU CANNOT WIN GAMES KICKING FIELD GOALS WHEN THE OTHER TEAM GETS IN THE END ZONE. HOW MANY MORE YEARS UNTIL SHULA UNDERSTANDS THIS CONCEPT? IT'S PAST TIME TO FIRE SHULA, AND ALSO TIME FOR MAL MOORE TO RETIRE. CAN WE HAVE SOME DIGNITY?

Shula should stay at UAT for many years to come. I hope he finishes strong, who knows, maybe he upsets AU this year and Mal gives him a 10-year extension before the Music City Bowl.

I've been a Shula fan ever since he had that incredible pass completion to Dale Jones 21 years ago. May be coach at the Capstone until the day he dies!

#2 (you crafty and devious UT fan you) I remember the Jones interception all too well. And giving the devil his due, it was one of the greatest defensive plays I had seen up to that point. This waiting till next year stuff is getting old!
